Wanna have a baby? A London
lesbian couple contemplates the idea of a baby - whether to have one, which partner
should carry it and how to deal with parenthood. Once that decision is made, well,
how do you do it? How do you find sperm and get it to the point of impregnation?
In this smart drama, filled with neurotic conversation about baby making, Sasha
(writer/director Lisa Gornick, Do I Love You?)
and Maya (Raquel Cassidy, Do I Love You?)
don't take the turkey baster or test tube route. They go cruising to find a male
sex partner, and sex with a man proves to be quite an adventure. Also included
are parallel stories about two heterosexual women trying to become pregnant. One
is single and sleeping with a different stud every night, while her married sister
doesn't seem to be sure that this is really what she wants. Baby making isn't
a simple thing no matter what your orientation. Those familiar with Do
I Love You? will recognize the same voiceover technique for much of the
contemplation (with less biking around town), and, of course, the same two women
in the lead roles. |
