Naomi (Saori Kitagawa) is
a Japanese director making lesbian porn to support herself, but the producers
tell her that her work isn't what straight men will find exiting. Most of her
friends can't believe she's making porn for men, calling her a traitor. Naomi
is just miserable, except for the support of Sugar, her online romantic interest. Then
she gets a gig directing a matchmaking tv show, with a chance to cast two women.
She chooses her friend Azusa (Saki) and Miki (C.Snatch Z.), an executive by day
and exotic dancer by night at a lesbian bar. Much of the rest of the film is shot
with a grainy behind the lens quality, which is a bit hard on the eyes, and intentionally
mimicking the unsteadiness of a handheld camera. Outside of the tv show
shoot, Miki and Azusa get together for an erotic scene of their own, complete
with strap on, and later Miki tries to make a move on Naomi as well. Will Azusa
leave her uninspired girlfriend for Miki, or will Naomi and Miki end up together?
And what about Sugar? Touted as the first Japanese film made by and about
lesbians. Unfortunately, I hate to say that the film really didn't keep my interest,
even though it's short at just over an hour. The characters were not engaging,
and the plot was very predictable. Directed by Desiree Lim (Floored
By Love). |
