Renee (Katherine Lee) is a theater professor with a full life, including a husband and two daughters, and she also directs college theater productions. Eve (Deidre Kotch) is a graduate student who gets the lead part in Renee's latest play. Eve's girlfriend Erin (Maria Biber-Ferro) isn't happy about the time she devotes to acting versus their relationship. In fact, neither of Renee or Eve's significant others are very supportive about their theater endeavors.

One night after discussing Eve's role, Renee drives her home, but gets a surprise when kissed in the car. On closing night, the two end up in Eve's room for a night of making love (but the lighting is so dark, it was impossible to see anything at all in this scene).

Unfortunately, it's hard to understand Renee's motivations in the beginning of the relationship, although over time the spark and connection between the actresses does grow. Predictably, Renee's husband finds out about the affair, as does the department chair. Angst all around.

Straight professor falls in love with lesbian grad student was a story I wanted to love, even like, but this production falls short. The acting seems over the top, as if it were for the stage, rather than the small screen, and the poor lighting was a problem in several scenes.
