Some call it "cult,"
some "classic," but Bound is most likely destined to be both
- a film made by a studio, released successfully in the mainstream, and featuring
a sexy, positively portrayed lesbian couple in a crime thriller. The writing and
directing team of the Wachowski brothers went on to make the mega-hit Matrix
movies. Corky (Gina Gershon, Prey for Rock & Roll, Palmetto,
Showgirls, Rocked) is an ex-con hired to do maintenance work in
an apartment building. Her tank tops show off the labris tattoo on her shoulder.
Ultra-feminine Violet (Jennifer Tilly, Relax... It's Just Sex, Embrace
of the Vampire, "Out of Practice")
lives there with her boyfriend Caesar (Joe Pantoliano, Teresa's Tattoo,
Three of Hearts), a money launderer for the mob. For Violet, her life and
sex with men is just her job, a way to make ends meet. Violet quickly seduces
Corky in more ways than one as her ticket out of the mob life. They become lovers,
and Violet then convinces her to steal two million dollars, framing Caesar in
the process. Great suspense. Classic dramatic music. Quite a bit of mob violence
and blood. Interesting camera angles and use of the camera. Nice erotic sex scenes,
and the girls DO end up together in the end. "I have this image of
you. Inside of me. Like a part of me." |
