RanchThe Ranch aired on Showtime as tv movie, although it had been developed as a series. The setting is the Diamond Ranch, a legal brothel outside Reno, Nevada, and the very businesslike (and non-stereotypical) madam is played by Amy Madigan. The prostitutes are all different, with varying lives, personalities and motivations. I found the show interesting in a soap opera kind of way – but it really does feel more like the pilot episode of a series in which the characters are all being introduced, rather than a standalone movie.

In one of several storylines, Kim (Jessica Collins) is very femme and beautiful … and secretly in love with co-worker Emily (Bonnie Root). Unfortunately, Emily has no idea and is also being pursued by the male bartender (Ty Olsson). Kim is very much in the closet and doesn’t want anyone to know, even though one of the other girls has figured it out. (AB)
