Paul

A sci-fi buddy movie – with a little green man  —  Paul is a made-in-New-Mexico (home of lesbian-films.com) alien road trip/ buddy flick with beaucoup nods to some of the most noted films in the sci-fi genre.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (both of Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) are two sci-fi geeks from the U.K who are touring America’s UFO  hotspots (and Comic-Con). The adventure takes off when they discover alien-on-the-run, Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen). The two RV adventurers agree to help Paul by taking him cross-country so his mother-ship can pick him up. Along the way they pick up a fundamentalist RV park operator (SNL star, Kristen Wiig) and are chased by men in black.

Tough gal, Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) plays “The Man,” and Jane Lynch (Glee, Best in Show) makes an appearance as a truck-stop cashier who gets this film on our list by making eyes (and not-so-subtle innuendo) at Kristen Wiig. Plus, (a fact you will not find anywhere else), one of our own LF staffers is an extra in this film. Look for the dyke at Comic-Con, that is if you can take your eyes off the scantily-clad Princess Leia look-alikes in the foreground.

Beware potty humor – and Paul does take a whack at crazy Christians [note the crazy part], but it’s a worthy popcorn adventure.

By the way, Paul also has a rockin’ throw-back soundtrack featuring folks like ELO, the B52s, Todd Rundgren and Marvin Gaye. (CJ)
