My Fellow Americans

Jack Lemmon (Some Like it Hot) and James Garner (of Rockford Files fame) play two former US presidents from opposite sides of the aisle who become targets of the current administration.

Lemmon and Garner go on the run, trying to clear their name and get help from a curious cast along the way, including Conchata Farrell (Erin Brokovich) as truck driver, an All-Dorothy marching band (think Over the Rainbow) and Dykes on Bikes.

Garner and Lemmon are old-school movie pros who you can count on to deliver.  They even successfully pull off the ‘oh look, we’re totally straight and caught in a gay gathering’ gag with subtly and aplomb. The anti-buddy theme of the movie is reminiscent of Lemmon’s The Odd Couple, but is freshened up with modern situations and a playful look at the politics.

Dan Akroyd (The Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters) plays the current President, John Heard (Entourage, TV series) is the VP, a la Dan Quayle, and Lauren Bacall (The Big Sleep) has a small role as Jack Lemmon’s wife.   (CJ)
