In one of the keystones of the Blaxploitation films of the 1970s, Pam Grier (Black Mama, White Mama, The L Word) is Foxy Brown, a sexy black woman on a mission of vengeance – with plenty of action, violence, T&A and a funky soundtrack.
After her boyfriend (Terry Carter) is killed by drug dealers, she plots her revenge and infiltrates the organization. At one point, her friend (Juanita Brown, Caged Heat) goes into a lesbian bar for a drink. Unfortunately, it’s a stereotypical, lecherous group of bar patrons, one of whom begins to feel up her friend. To get them out of the bar, Foxy starts a fight by slinging chairs, and chaos ensues. The bar fight is another opportunity to see Foxy in action, but it’s such a negative portrayal of lesbians that it’s a sour point.
Immediately after the fight, Foxy is caught by the drug dealers and beaten, drugged and raped. She ingeniously escapes her captors and then goes for the organization’s kingpins. The leader is a woman, and in the final scene, Foxy actually cuts off the penis of the woman’s boyfriend and delivers it to her in a pickle jar. Mission accomplished. (AB)
