This independent film was written, produced and directed by Amber Benson, who also stars as Chance, the title character. (Benson played Willow’s first lover Tara in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’) Chance is a young woman looking for love. She shares an apartment with her friend Simon (James Marsters, ‘Buffy’), a telemarketer who is also secretly in love with her. Chance goes through dates and one night stands looking for the perfect guy, but Jack (Andy Hallett, ‘Angel’), the one she really likes, is actually gay.
She also has to deal with a clingy mother and a somewhat flaky father. One night she brings home a ‘random girl’ from a club when she is in an ‘experimental phase.’ The two make out outside the club and then back at Chance’s place with Simon in the other room. In a shocker, random girl Sara (Tressa DiFiglia) doesn’t wake up the next morning.
If you’re not a huge ‘Buffy’ or Amber fan, should you watch Chance? Probably not, unless buying the dvd or viewing online as a contribution to support independent film. (AB)
