Pushing the boundaries of gender, love and artistic expression, punk musician and performance artist, Genesis P-Orridge (of band Psychic TV) underwent a series of surgeries so he could look more like his lady-love and artistic partner, Lady Jaye (née Jacqueline Breyer).
P-Orridge and Lady Jaye were gender variant activists who documented their life in collaborative photos, paintings, video projects and writing. The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye takes things a step further, documenting P-Orridge’s transformation project, ‘Creating the Pandrogyne,’
French director, Marie Losier, began her film on P-Orridge and Psychic TV five years before, but when Lady Jaye died, in 2007, her death became central to the film as P-Orridge carried on his transformation, attempting to become a mirror of Lady Jaye. (CJ)
